Applications:

• The Common Application website offers one application for over 400 colleges and universities across the country, including UT Knoxville, Vanderbilt, Belmont, Lipscomb, Ivy League schools, and more.
• The Common Black College Application website offers one central application for all Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
• The Universal College Application website offers one central application for 45 colleges, including several that are not listed on the Common Application website.

Athletics:

• NAIA Eligibility Center is for students interested in playing sports at an NAIA school. Students must meet the eligibility requirements, and can register with the NAIA to learn more.
• NCAA Eligibility Center– Students interested in playing sports at the collegiate level need to register with the NCAA and qualify academically.  The NCAA Eligibility Center has all the necessary information.

• All careers are grouped into 16 different “career clusters”. Learn about these clusters and the careers that fit into each one of them.
• College for TN offers excellent career inventories and exploration tools.
• The Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) schools offer excellent opportunities for students who are interested in hands-on, industry-based training for careers that do not require a four-year degree.  The Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant ($2,000) available simply by completing the FAFSA can cover most, if not all, of the expenses of attending one of the TCAT programs.
• The Tennessee College and Career Planning System is an extremely useful tool for all post-secondary planning needs. The activation code for Summit High students is N4265399KHX.

• Let us know your plans, Seniors! Report your post-secondary plans and scholarships so that we can recognize you and celebrate your success!
• Do you want to study something that isn’t offered at any college in Tennessee?  The Academic Common Market website gives you the opportunity to see if there’s a school that does offer it.  You’ll get in-state tuition even though you’ll be going out of state for school.
• The Big Future website is the College Board’s college and career planning website. They help you find colleges, research careers, and find scholarships and grants specific to you and your individual plan.
• The College Navigator search tool is operated by the US Department of Education.  The information available helps you compare colleges based on facts from the government.

• Many colleges and universities send representatives to the Middle Tennessee area throughout the year, and some visit Summit High School during the school day.  Our college and university visit calendar will show you which colleges and universities are visiting campus and when.
• As a junior or senior at Summit High, you can sign up for small group meetings with a college representative who is visiting campus. These small group sessions will take place immediately prior to lunch during the remediation period.

The NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse is the organization that determines whether prospective college athletes are eligible to play sports ​at NCAA Division I or Division II institutions.  If you aspire to be a student-athlete in college, you must register with the NCCA Clearinghouse and meet the stated requirements. 

In order to be cleared by the NCAA you must meet certain academic requirements: complete 16 core courses, have a minimum GPA of 2.3 (for D1) or 2.2 (for D2) in those core courses, and meet the minimums of the sliding scale in your combination of core course GPA and SAT/ACT test scores.

• College for TN gives access to information on public and private 2-year and 4-year institutions, as well as the Tennessee College of Applied Technology centers. The website also offers career exploration activities and links to help guide you through the process.
• Tennessee HOPE Scholarship is Tennessee’s educational scholarship program.  Graduating seniors must have either a 3.0 GPA on the state Uniform Grading Policy scale (indicated as HOPE Scholarship GPA on WCS transcripts), or a 21 or higher ACT composite.  FAFSA completion is required and is also considered the scholarship application as well.
• High School graduates can become eligible for two years of free college at one of the state’s community colleges through the Tennessee Promise. Students must fulfill the requirements of the program, including community service hours.
• The Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) provides over 20 different state student financial aid programs, including the HOPE scholarship, Tennessee Promise, Tennessee Reconnect, Tennessee Student Assistance Award, and the Dual Enrollment grant.
• Students following one of the Tennessee Transfer Pathway options will earn their Associate’s Degree at a Tennessee community college, while having guaranteed admission to one of Tennessee’s 4-year colleges or universities to complete their four-year degree.
• Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) has 27 locations throughout the state. They are the state’s premier providers of state-of-the-art technical training for workers to obtain the technical skills and professional training necessary for advancement in today’s competitive job market. Tuition for most programs can be paid for through the Tennessee Promise scholarship and/or the Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant.

Transcript Requests – Alumni and Current Students

1. Begin your Transcript Request and follow these steps: Order a transcript- Select START button
   • Select SENDING INSTITUTION (Summit High School, Spring Hill, TN)
   • Follow instructions to enter student identifying information
   • Select the Receiving Institution. You may select multiple institutions.
   • Review your Transcript Order.
   • Enter your Customer Information (The email address you provide will be used to send you your tracking information on your transcript order)
   • Submit order
2. Make a note of the tracking number(s) to check your transcript request and verify when the receiving institution receives the transcript. Keep in mind, it still may take the receiving institution a week or two to accept and process your transcript.

Sending ACT scores

Best option:

1. When you register to take the ACT, fill in the 4-digit college code where you want your ACT scores sent.
2. You can send your scores to four institutions at no charge.
3. No additional charge when you send your scores this way
4. Colleges typically use the best scores they receive, they look for reasons to admit students and will update your application as needed.

Other option:

1. Got to the ACT website to send your scores to a specific college or university.
2. Follow instructions for “How to Send Scores.”
3. There is a separate fee to send scores using this method.

Tests for College

• ACT is a mission-driven nonprofit organization. Their insights unlock potential and create solutions for college and career readiness. Through the ACT website, students can register for the ACT and access ACT's online test prep.
• The SAT is a standardized test used in the United States for college admissions. Through the SAT website, students can register for the SAT and SAT II exams, as well as access practice materials.
• The PSAT is the Preliminary SAT and the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying exam. All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students are encouraged to take this exam. Through the PSAT website, you can register for the exam, access practice tests and view scores and reports.
• The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test is a multi-skill assessment that will help students connect to careers that match their strengths.  You do not have to be entering the military to take this assessment. Through the ASVAB testing website, you can learn more about the test and how to interpret your scores. If you are interested in taking the ASVAB, contact your school counselor today.
